Tea on Pendle Hill at food festival launch

DINNER jackets and walking boots were "de rigueur" for the launch of the Pennine Lancashire Festival of Food and Culture.
Representatives from the six districts of "Pennine Lancashire" donned their dinner jackets and walking boots to take tea on Pendle Hill.

The festival runs until September 18th and was also marked with tethered balloon flights at Huntley's, Samlesbury, which recently opened a new food hall showcasing local produce.

A programme of all the festival events is available from Clitheroe Tourist Information Centre, in the foyer at the Ribble Valley Borough Council offices in Church Walk, Clitheroe. The full programme is also available online at: www.penninelancashirefood.co.uk

Ribble Valley events for the coming week include:
• Friday to Sunday – Gourmet Short Break at the Millstone Hotel, Mellor. Call 01254 813333 for details or to book.

• Saturday – a Heathcote's Cookery Class on Vegetarian Cooking, Heathcote's Restaurant, Longridge. Call 01772 784969 for details or to book.

• Tuesday – a Taste of Lancashire on the Tolkien Trail, at the Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green. Free guided walk with opportunity to dine/stay at The Shireburn. To book call 01254 688040.
