A new community play area has been opened in Gisburn.
The park is located near the village hall car park, on land bought with donations from villagers. More than £75,000 has also been secured to transform the site into the children's play area.

The park is divided into three sections – a play area for the under fives, a section for the six to 11-year-olds made by a local craftsman from local timber, and a multi sports area for the over 11s.

Poor weather has meant the top tier has not been finished, but the committee decided to open the park in time for the school holidays.

Long standing villager and former councillor Harry Waddington officially opened the new park in recognition of his work in Gisburn over the years.

• Funding for Gisburn's new park has come from: Lancashire Environment Fund, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Lancashire Aggregates Fund, Awards for All, Children's Network Fund, Bowland Rural Futures, Skipton Building Society, Harris Charity, Duchy of Lancaster Trust, Bowland Trust and Green Partnership.
