CLITHEROE Castle Keep has closed to the public for at least two months as part of a £3.2m. redevelopment of the site.
The keep has closed for repairs to its historic stonework as part of the Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme.
Work inside the keep on the installation of wiring and lights, a web cam and sound system, signs and interpretation boards, was undertaken last year.

Experts are now repairing and re-pointing the 12th Century Norman keep using special mortar and stone in keeping with the original.
The Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme will see a glass atrium linking Clitheroe Castle Museum and North West Sound Archives on two levels, with a lift, disabled facilities, café, exhibition space, interactive display facilities and education suite.
The museum will undergo major restoration and modernisation to develop as a quality visitor attraction, with strong links in the education and specialist interest sectors.
Clitheroe Castle has dominated the Ribble Valley skyline since its construction in the 12th Century by Robert de Lacy to protect the administrative centre of his vast estates.
The Heritage Lottery Fund approved a £2m. bid by Ribble Valley Borough Council to revamp Clitheroe Castle and Museum last year. The site has been closed for 12 months and is expected to re-open next spring.
